How did you two meet?

Stephen and I met while I was attending a small community college near our home town. He is a police officer and was required to attend a continuing education class. After months and months of talking via Instagram & snapchat, I finally got the nerve to meet him in between class. Shortly after, we went on our first date & have been inseparable ever since.

Who said I love you first?

The first time as a joke. In his words, “I just wanted to see how you would react,” then a few days later for real.

Tell us your proposal story!

After months of talking about it, picking out a ring, etc. we decided to go for a beach trip. We go to the beach often during the summer so I didn’t think much about it. On the way there, he said things like, “I don’t want you to be let down. We will get engaged, I just don’t want to do it here,” so I was convinced I wouldn’t be getting engaged during this trip. The day we arrived, we decided to go for a walk down the beach. To my surprise, he had arranged for a large heart shaped sand sculpture to be made with “Will you marry me Makayla?” On the front and red rose petals leading to it. Needless to say, I was a mess and completely blown away.

What made you two decide to elope in Nashville?

After months of searching for the perfect venue, we were overwhelmed with prices and plethora of options in our area. After talking through it, we decided to elope because it was the smarter financial decision but the different packages available on the website allowed us to “elope,” while still having the people there that meant the most to us. As a bride, I feel that eloping took a large amount of pressure off my shoulders because I didn’t have to worry about flowers, decor, etc.

What was your favorite part of your big day?

Our favorite part was being able to have a short and sweet ceremony in the presence of those closest to our hearts. Oh and of course, all of the pictures!

What advice do you have for other couples looking to elope?

Don’t stress the little stuff! The elopement is quick and sentimental. It happens fast, so don’t feel the need to plan every second of it. Let loose and have fun with it.
