Alison and Dustin chose to share their vows in front a beautiful waterfall, surrounded by close family and friends. Everything was absolutely perfect and we were excited to learn they have a little one on the way! We love getting to know our couples and when we asked these two if they would like to share their story with our viewers they were all for it!
How did you two meet?
We met playing in an adult kickball league! In 2018, I (Alison) was new(ish) to Texas and started a Kickball Team, called Fruit of the Boom, as a way to get out and meet people. Dustin had recently moved back to Texas and was asked to join the team by a mutual friend. Within a couple of weeks of playing games and getting to know each other, Dustin asked me to go on a date. It wasn't long before Big Banana (Dustin) and Fineapple (Alison) fell in love.
Who said I love you first?
After a fun night of dancing, Dustin said, " I love you," on our first weekend getaway to the beach.
Tell us your proposal story!
In August of 2019, we signed a contract to build a house. Nearly every day, Dustin would suggest we go visit the lot or see if any work had been done. His original plan was to propose there, the site of our future home. Unfortunately, it was was always blazing hot and there were workers surrounding the site...not exactly the romantic proposal he had envisioned. Then one night out of the blue, I turned around from brushing my teeth to see him on one knee with a beautiful ring.
What made you decide to elope?
We wanted an intimate wedding, surrounded by our closest loved ones. We also wanted to have beautiful pictures and a fun weekend getaway. In addition, we wanted something budget-friendly; buying a new house and spending tens of thousands of dollars on a wedding was not practical.
What made you choose your elopement location?
When looking at elopement locations, we first looked at the traditional destination wedding locations (Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico...). I wanted an outdoor ceremony, but never saw myself as a beach bride, and the costs of a destination wedding quickly added up, even when looking at "free wedding" resorts. Dustin has always said he wanted to visit Nashville and a random Google search of Nashville Elopements led us to Michael and Michelle. As soon as we saw the waterfall weddings, we knew it was exactly what we wanted!
What did you love the most about your elopement experience?
I loved the simplicity! Michael and Michelle were always quick to answer my questions, provided easy ceremony options, and coordinated everything down to the flowers. It was an unforgettable weekend, and we were able to focus on each other instead of stressing about a large event.
What advice would you give to other couples, contemplating an elopement?
Focus on what you want as a couple, and politely ignore any outside influence. It is your wedding, your marriage, and your day; you do not have to please anyone else.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us for your feature blog?
When we made the decision to elope with Nashville Elopements, we never could have anticipated the changes to come....COVID-19...and we received the surprise of a lifetime in March, finding out we were expecting a baby! I don't know what we would have done if we had planned a big traditional wedding. Luckily, our elopement went off without a hitch and it was the most memorable and special day. Thank you, Michelle and Michael!
